Interior design services are not just for the rich and famous. There are designers, such as ourselves, whose ethos is to guide those who perhaps lack the knack to work their way through the mired process of reconfiguring their homes into spaces that are a joy to be in and come home to, and make them feel relaxed and comfortable ….literally ‘at home’.
Here are some reasons why engaging the services of an interior designer is recommended ….
- Keeping you focussed – it’s easy to view interior ideas on Pinterest and other internet sites, where there are thousands of ideas to inspire you… but you could easily get caught up in so many options, that you become confused as to: Which style is really ‘you’? Which styles are OK to put together, and which clash horribly? Which patterns mix well together? Which colour contrasts are definite no-no’s? … and so on…..
- Time Saving… After an initial in-depth focussed consultation (or two) with you, a designer will get a ‘feel’ for your design taste, colour and style preferences, and will be able to do the running around for you, after which they can then present you with a condensed set of options for you to choose from. Instead of you having to spend all your free time running from showroom to showroom looking at tons of furnishings and finishings, much of which you have no interest in (and getting more confused in the process), a designer will have distilled all these options down to a select few for you to look over at your leisure in the comfort of your own home or in the designer’s showroom. Designing a home and following through with the execution is a multifaceted process, involving suppliers and contractors who need to be supervised and monitored as the work advances.
- Money Saving – Yes, this is actually true! Firstly, instead of approaching a room or house design through trial and error (and using up tons of your own valuable time, and potentially wasting your valuable money on, e.g., buying the wrong size furniture for the room), the designer’s expertise means that you’re going to get the room design pretty much spot on from the get-go. Secondly, you will have, through the designer’s network, a much greater source of tried and tested suppliers available to you, with better selections and prices to choose from. And, thirdly, not only do you save on money spent, the value of your home will actually improve considerably, and, should you decide to put your home on the market, it will sell much faster, as it will be so much more appealing to prospective buyers.
- Working within your budget – you decide on your budget, and we plan within that. In consultation with you, we decide where best to allocate available funds, and where savings can be made, e.g., in the form of keeping or ‘upcycling’, existing items, and so on.
- Artistic vision – a designer’s practised and creative eye will see the possibilities in a room and where small changes will make huge differences. They may also pick up issues that you may not even be aware of. This know-how is priceless.
- Tricks of the trade – designers have, over the years, gained experience on clever tricks, for example, how to make a small space look larger, make a low ceiling look higher, a dark corner look brighter, and so on…. All of these will, at the end of the day, give you a space that is beautiful, cohesive and functional, and leave you feeling happier, more content and comfortable in your home space.
- Keeping you sane – decorating a home, or even a room in a home, can be quite a stressful process. Delegating this all-consuming task to an expert takes the weight off your own shoulders and all you’ll need to do will be the pleasant task, over a cup of tea or coffee – or maybe a glass of wine! – of deciding on a wall colour, a curtain fabric, a rug, or whatever it may be, from a select assortment of swatches or samples laid out in front of you.
- Those little ‘finishing touches’ – designers know just how to finish off a room’s décor so that it feels ‘complete’… no dead space, just good space.
